Description:
The Ocean & Climate Platform is a multi-stakeholder structure bringing together 70 members: scientific and research institutions, universities, NGOs, foundations, public institutions, and associations of private firms coming together to raise awareness about the importance of the inter- linkages between Ocean and Climate.
The intern’s responsibilities will include:
• Coordination of the Ocean and Climate Platform:
o Follow-up of the relations between the Platform and national institutions (e.g.
Ministry of Environment)
o Assist with the organization of international conferences, meetings and workshops
• Coordination of the Ocean and Climate Initiatives Alliance (OCIA):
o Support the Ocean and Climate Initiatives Alliance coordination: searching for new partners, updating the website, organizing meetings with the initiatives, and
contributing to setting OCIA’s strategy (short- and long-term)
o Draft a wide range of information materials, including meeting reports, newsletters,
blog articles, conference documents and policy briefs
o Follow-ups of international processes and conferences, especially UNFCCC,
ECOSOC, CBD.
Skills and qualifications:
• Excellent command of both English and French (oral and written)
• Excellent writing skills and ability to work with little supervision
• Strong organizational skills and attention to details
• Strong knowledge of international environmental affairs and governance (ocean, climate and biodiversity)
Academic background: Be enrolled in a masters’ degree in environmental science, political science, international relations or equivalent.
Dates: The internship will start on 4 February 2019, ideally for a period of six months.
Financial compensation: Minimum wage for student interns
